Publication Ulstructural study of macrophages in the rat thymus, with special reference to the cortico-medullary zone(1987) ;Milicevic, N.M. (7004246518) ;Milicevic, Z. (7003463353) ;Colic, M. (20933591700)Mujovic, S. (6602938333)Electron microscopic study of the normal rat thymus has demonstrated that macrophages with different ultrastructural features are positioned in the thymic cortex, in the cortico-medullary zone and in the medulla. Phagocytic cells, containing necrotic lymphocytes in various stages of degradation, are distributed throughout the thymic cortex. The cortico-medullary zone, in contrast, is populated with macrophages displaying specific ultrastructural features. These cells contain numerous vacuolar inclusions of different size, filled with homogeneous, flocculent material of very low electron density. The dense bodies, occasionally positioned to the inner side of the vacuolar membrane, selectively contrast with silver methenamine and contain polysaccharides, as demonstrated by the thiocarbohydrazide-silver proteinate method. Very rarely, these cells contain phagocytosed lymphocyte remnants. The predominant type of mononuclear phagocytic cells in the thymic medulla are the interdigitating cells. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Ultrastructural study of germinal center macrophages in peripheral lymphoid organs of the rat(1990) ;Milicevic, N.M. (7004246518) ;Milicevic, Z. (7003463353)Colic, M. (20933591700)The ultrastructural study of macrophages of germinal centers in the secondary lymphoid follicles of the rat spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes was performed. It was demonstrated that besides macrophages containing necrotic lymphocytes and plasma cells in various stages of degradation (which are already well described in the literature) the germinal centers are also populated with macrophages displaying specific ultrastructural features which enable their precise identification. These cells contain numerous vacuolar inclusions of different size, filled with electron lucent, flocculent material. The dense bodies and membrane profiles are also present in varying amount within the vacuolar content. The dense bodies contain polysaccharides which are detected by the thiocarbohydrazide-silver proteinate method. Very rarely, these cells contain the phagocytosed cellular debris, which is readily distinguished from the cytoplasmic inclusions. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
