Doppler echocardiography on admission revealed the presence ofdiastolic mitral regurgitation, which is considered to be the Doppler sign of acute aortic insufficiency. At subsequent studies 1 and 2 months later, diastolic mitral regurgitation was still present. This finding demonstrates that the pathophysiology of acute aortic insufficiency can persist over 2 months. Copyright © 1992, Wiley Blackwell.
