The present study was designed as a non-interventional open-label, multi-centre, post-marketing study. The aim of the study was to evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness and tolerability of trazodone retard formulation (Trittico® retard) in everyday clinical practice. Methods: Two hundred and forty-two patients with depressive disorder from 19 different centres were included in the study. The antidepressant and anxyolitic effects were assessed using Hamilton anxiety rating scale 14 items version, Hamilton depression rating scale 14 items version and Clinical Global Impression Severity scale. Results: After only two weeks of therapy, a statistically significant improvement in the HAM-D score, was observed. This observation was maintained over the whole study period, up to the day 56. Conclusions: Our study points toward clinical effectiveness of the prolonged-release formulation of trazodone in the treatment of unselected depressed patients in real-world practice. © 2016 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Patients with pneumonia who require mechanical ventilation (MV) are associated with several poor outcomes such as prolonged hospitalization, higher rate of mortality and increased spread of antibioticsresistant pathogens. MV in patients with communityacquired pneumonia (CAP) could cause development of psychological symptoms, often neglected in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) as well as decreased quality of life after the withdrawal of the MV. The aim of the study was to evaluate the quality of life in patients with CAPs treated with MV in ICU. Methods. The study was designed as a cohort study of hospital-treated patients with CAP with prospective data collection. The quality of life was defined as the primary outcome, while the use of MV was assumed as the primary prognostic factor that adversely affected the outcome. The patients were recruited from the population of patients with CAPs who were hospitalized at the ICU, Clinical Center Kragujevac, Serbia, from January 2013 to January 2014. The experimental group consisted of patients who were on MV while the control group included patients who were treated for CPAs in the ICU, but were not subjected to MV. The quality of life was assessed by using patient-rated Euro Quality of Life (EuroQoL) Group-EQ-5D index. The calculation of the total EQ-5D-5L score values was performed by using the predefined, validated mapping key according to response combinations. Statistical analysis was performed by using χ2 test, Student's t-test, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results. The patients with MV had worse EQ5D-5L values in comparison to the control group for all 5 domains. Mobility, self-care and usual activities were negatively affected during the whole follow-up period. Pain or discomfort and anxiety or depression differed significantly between the study group and the control group at days 7 and 30. Conclusion. Patients with MV tend to have poorer quality of life, especially in 3 domains. The main reasons are the presence of chronic comorbidities in the population that require MV. © 2018, Inst. Publication The impact of covid-19 pandemic on suicide attempts in the Republic of Serbia(2021) ;Stašević-Karličić, Ivana (57191282121) ;Đorđević, Vladan (57200618524) ;Dutina, Aleksandra (57191286001) ;Stašević, Milena (57191279941) ;Janjić, Vladimir (57216675188) ;Ignjatović-Ristić, Dragana (55102897100)Pantić, Igor (36703123600)Introduction/Objective Previous studies suggest that the number of suicides and suicide attempts will increase due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the frequency and characteristics of suicide attempts in the Republic of Serbia. Methods The study observed two periods: the period from March to August 2020 (the COVID period) and the same period of the previous year (the non-COVID period). The observation during the mentioned periods encompassed patients who were examined at the Dr. Laza Lazarević Clinic for Mental Disorders in Belgrade due to suicide attempts (1987 persons during COVID period and 2300 persons during the non-COVID period). Results Concerning suicide attempts, a statistically significant difference between the observed periods was registered in respect to the total number of monthly clinical examinations, monthly distribution of suicide attempts, patients’ gender and age, mode of suicide attempt, and the diagnostic category. Binary logistic regression determined that statistically significant factors that can influence the suicide attempt were year, months, patients’ gender and age, and diagnostic category. Conclusion COVID-19 pandemic creates the increased exposure of the people to suicide risk factors, which points to the significance of consistent monitoring of mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic and thereafter. © 2021, Serbia Medical Society.
